This Rain Forest Alliance certified coffee is grown high on the slopes of the Turrialba Volcano in Costa Rica. Coffee plots are interlaced with natural springs and almost 20 kilometers in streams, which form a network of natural corridors through the farm that connect the large protected forests in the two river valleys, providing a healthy environment for the local animals, birds, and plants.
Usually, coffee cherries develop two beans inside, but when a plant suffers from some sort of stress, it will randomly produce peaberries. These particular cherries only develop one bean, which takes up the nutrients and space that the other bean would’ve otherwise occupied. The result is a more powerful coffee, with bright acidity and complex flavours.
We medium roast these exceptional beans to produce a truly classic, Costa Rican coffee, bringing out the sweet caramel and cane sugar notes. If you like Costa Rican coffee, you'll love this!
