Guatemala is the 10th largest coffee producer in the world, with over 300 microclimates and rich volcanic soil providing perfect coffee growing conditions.
This coffee is grown by an indigenous cooperative in the Huehuetenango region. With help from the Fairtrade program, they invest their profits back into the local community, providing healthcare, job training, and women's programs.
Grown at high altitude on small organic farms, the coffee plants sit under large trees which provide shade, nutrients, and prevent soil erosion. Along with being Fairtrade and Organic Certified, this coffee is also Smithsonian Migratory Bird Certified. This is the gold standard in eco friendly coffee growing, providing habitats for birds and other animals, and encouraging carbon sequestration to fight climate change.
Our gentle medium roast process brings out the dark chocolate flavour in these exceptional beans, along with cherry, plum, and raspberry notes.
