BARISTA

Black Creek Coffee is a small, artisan coffee roastery based in the heart of Acton, Halton Hills. We are currently looking for people who are passionate about coffee, and committed to amazing customer service, to staff our new café in Georgetown. Whether you have lots of experience or are just a self motivated fast learner, send us your resume!

Position: Barista / Senior Barista (Part-Time, Monday-Friday. Possibly some weekends)

Location: 280 Guelph St, Georgetown, ON (in-person)

Starting Pay: $17.00+ per hour based on experience

Reporting to the Chief Roasting Officer, primary duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Create amazing drinks following Black Creek Coffee’s set recipes and quality standards
  • Be professional at all times, make customers happy with excellent customer service, and promote the mission and values of Black Creek Coffee
  • Work well under pressure
  • Maintain coffee and other product knowledge, confidently and accurately communicate to customers
  • Complete Daily and Weekly checklist task assigned
  • Maintain and operate Point Of Sale, till checklist, and assist with opening and closing procedures
  • Keep the café clean, organized and fully stocked, ensure staff are following daily/weekly checklists
  • Maintain, demonstrate and enforce all café policies and procedures, including accurate recording of hours, health and safety, product standards, and cash handling
  • Assist with staff training, including coffee/barista knowledge, customer service, retail, and health and safety
  • Minimize waste and overheads, address any quality issues
  • Resolve quality issues, report inaccuracies to management
  • Inventory management and reporting, ensuring sufficient stock
  • Updating the POS with new products and accurate pricing
  • Weekly reporting to the Café Manager covering anything noteworthy in regards to waste, food, staff, maintenance, and inventory
  • Create, support, and demonstrate all café policies and procedures, including recording of hours, health and safety, and product standards
  • All other reasonably assigned duties

Working Setting

  • Work standing up for 8 hour shifts and keep pace in a fast-moving environment
  • Lift 40 lbs from the ground unassisted and carry as required

Skills + Experience

  • Previous barista/cafe experience is an advantage
  • Previous customer service experience is preferred
  • Experience with POS systems is an asset
  • Possession of a valid Ontario Food Handler’s Certificate is preferred
  • Familiarity with G-Suite apps and spreadsheets is considered an asset
  • Experience of managing people is an asset
  • Experience in the Specialty Coffee Industry is an advantage
